Reindeer therapy program: super-safari on reindeer sleds through the beautiful winter forest at relaxed pace

On this excursion we will take you to a historic reindeer farm owned by a Lappish family. It lies on the bank of the longest river in Lapland and is surrounded by taiga forest. You will get to ride on a reindeer sled through a beautiful winter forest at a moderately fast pace. From the early morning the reindeer herder starts to prepare for the safari: harness reindeers and sleds, puts extra warm reindeer skins for the passengers, makes fresh tea and coffee, bakes fresh pastry… 

After the ride you will be able to take photos with the reindeer and feed them with lichen, reindeer’s favorite treat. Then a cup of hot drink with a pastry in a warm guest house by an open fireplace will taste especially good. You can hear the presentation about the reindeer from the local host and purchase locally hand-made souvenirs.

Exclusions
    • Warm winter clothing, available only at Safarimarket pick-up location (Keskuskuja 2 B 3) and will not be delivered to other pick-up locations

      Child age: 2-11 years

      Reindeers are semi-wild animals and even being used to living next to people, they’re quite shy and can be unpredictable. Please always follow the instructions given by the guide and try to be calm and careful when close to the reindeers.

      What to bring

        We strongly recommend wearing warm winter clothing. It can be rented separately before the departure from the Safarimarket office in Levi center at extra charge. If you want to rent the clothing, please be at least 20 min before pick up time to get dressed.
